Workshops

Powdermill Banding Coordinator, Luke DeGroote, talks to North American Birds and Buildings Symposium participants about bird-safe glass

Banding Workshops

The Powdermill Avian Research Center offers two types of Banding Workshops throughout the year. Our “Extraction Workshop” focuses on extracting birds from mist nets and banding methods while our “Molt Workshop” focuses on ageing birds via molt limits and other reliable techniques. All Workshops are supervised by trainers certified by the North American Banding Council. Space is limited, therefore priority will be given to those with opportunities to continue to utilize the skills we teach through work or volunteering.

Motus Workshops

The Motus Wildlife Tracking System has revolutionized how we record animal movements in nature.  Powdermill Avian Research Center and the Willistown Conservation Trust are hosting biannual workshops focusing on Motus technology. Workshops are held in the beautiful mountains of Western Pennsylvania and are designed for those with little or no experience utilizing nanotags and the Motus Wildlife Network.

Powdermill Avian Research Center sponsored in part by Colcom Foundation and the Laurel Foundation.
