Golden Eagle being released into the wild

Notes and Highlights for November 2006 The month of October was a hard act to follow, but November was one for the record books as well. It was a very productive month with a total of 1,506 birds banded; the second highest November total in the history of the program. Dark-eyed Junco topped the list this month with 444 banded, becoming the third highest November total for this species ever, following behind 571 banded in 1997 and 496 banded in 1992. Cedar Waxwing

Of the 31 days in October, banding at Powdermill took place on 26 of them, giving us a total of 6,875 net hours of effort for the month. With over 4,000 birds banded, we had a remarkable capture rate of 59.0 birds per 100 net hours. 2006 September

Canada Warbler

September 2016 Over the course of 25 banding days, and with 7,180 net-hours of effort, we banded 3,379 birds (and recaptured an additional 356) of 87 species in September, for an overall capture rate of 47 birds per 100 net-hours. Our highest daily banding totals during the month occurred on 9/15 (229 birds banded) and 9/16 (245). Forty or more species were banded on 9/19 (42 species), 9/20 (40), and 9/29 (43).
