PICTORIAL HIGHLIGHTS, WEEK
11/21/00-11/26/00
-
Heavy snow fell all day on 11/21, preventing banding
that day, and it looked like this by the next morning (total snow depth
ca. 8 inches)!
-
We finally caught our first American
Robin for the fall on 11/25; the bird was
a hatching year (HY)--note the retained juvenal greater coverts nos. 1-5
and 7. All thrushes typically retain at least a few greater coverts
during the first prebasic molt. A similar molt limit was visible
on an Eastern Bluebird
two weeks ago.
